The short version. To be a live community map, LiveRide shares your live position, speed,
nickname and vehicle type with other users while the app is open. That is the whole point of the
Service, and you consent to it when you register. Everything else stays private: we never ask for your
phone number or email, we never sell your data, and other users cannot see your history, your contact
details or your account.
1.Who we are
LiveRide (“we”, “us”) operates liveride.space and the LiveRide mobile app, and is the data controller
for the personal data described here. Contact:

2.What we collect
Account data
- Nickname — required. Chosen by you; it is your public identity in the community.
- Password — required. Stored only as a salted hash (bcrypt); we never store or see it in plain text.
- Vehicle type — car, SUV or bike. Used for your map icon.
- Telegram / Instagram handle — optional. Only if you choose to enter it.
- Respect points and your route/speed results.
We do not ask for and do not store your phone number, email address, real name, home address,
date of birth, photo or payment details.
Location data
- Live position (latitude/longitude), speed and direction of travel,
sampled roughly once per second while the app is open.
- Trip records — a stored GPS track of drives, plus derived figures such as distance,
average and maximum speed, and harsh-braking or speeding events.
- Route timing — checkpoint crossings and split times when you drive a route.
- Point visits — when you enter a meeting spot or speed point, so the app can award
respect points and build the daily speed board.
Location is only collected while the app is open and running. The app does not currently track you in
the background: if you close it or lock your phone, collection stops.
Technical data
Standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) kept for security and troubleshooting. We
do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or third-party marketing pixels on the website.
3.What other people can see
This is the most important section, so it is spelled out precisely.
Other logged-in users of the app can see
- your live position on the map while your app is open;
- your current speed shown next to your marker;
- your nickname and vehicle type;
- your times, positions and gaps on route leaderboards and speed-point boards;
- that someone is at a meeting spot — shown as a headcount.
Anyone on the public website can see
- an anonymous marker for each driver who is actively driving, with a speed figure;
- meeting spots and speed points, with headcounts.
The public map deliberately contains no nicknames, no identities, no scores, no respect points
and no history. People who simply have the app open but are not driving are not shown publicly
at all.
Nobody else can see
- your password (nobody, including us, can read it);
- your location history or stored trip tracks;
- your Telegram or Instagram handle, unless you chose to add it;
- any contact details — we never collected any.
A community administrator can see registered drivers, their live and historical driving data, and any
optional handle you added, in order to run the community and its routes and events.
4.Why we process it, and our legal basis
- Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) — to share your live location, speed, nickname and
vehicle type with other users. This is the core function of the Service and you give this consent
when you accept the Terms at registration. You can withdraw it at any time (see section 7).
- Performing our agreement with you (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to create and run your account,
record your routes and times, and operate leaderboards and respect points.
- Our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse
and cheating, and fix faults.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
5.How long we keep it
- Live position — held in memory only and discarded within about 90 seconds of your
last update. It is not a permanent record.
- Detailed GPS trip tracks — automatically deleted after 90 days.
- Trip summaries, route times, leaderboard results and respect points — kept while
your account exists, because they are the community's shared record.
- Account data — kept until you ask us to delete your account.
- Server logs — kept for a short period for security and diagnostics.
6.Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share it only with:
- Other users of the Service, as described in section 3 — this is the purpose of the app;
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server that stores the data on our behalf;
- Map tile providers (OpenStreetMap / CARTO) — your device requests map images from
them, so they receive your IP address and the map area you are viewing, as with any online map;
- Authorities, if we are legally required to do so.
Data is stored on servers in the European Union.
7.Your rights and how to withdraw consent
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
To stop sharing your live location immediately: close the app, or revoke the location
permission in your phone's settings. Sharing stops as soon as the app stops sending updates.
To delete your account and data: email
privacy@liveride.space from a channel we can verify, or ask
your community administrator. We will delete your account, trips, tracks and results.
If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully you can complain to the Latvian Data State
Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija) or to the supervisory authority in your country.
8.Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit with HTTPS/WSS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Access to
the database is restricted to the application. Please note that LiveRide is beta software:
no system is perfectly secure, and you should not store anything sensitive in it.
9.Children
LiveRide is intended for licensed drivers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly
collect data from anyone below the age at which they can lawfully drive the vehicle they use.
10.Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date will change. Material changes to how we share your
location will be brought to your attention in the app.
